Nobody’s Perfect…especially not your Electricity Utility!

Earlier this year, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) required Ontario’s 73 electricity utilities to record their Billing Accuracy measures beginning on October 1, 2014. 12 of the 73 utilities have now reported their October 2014 results with the remainder due to report after December 31, 2014.

Kudos to the first 12 utilities to report! However, the OEB did not specify a methodology or a reporting format for which bills are deemed to be inaccurate and the results from the 12 reporting utilities are indicative. Some report <1%; others reported 4.4%. Regardless of the differences in reporting format, the single common denominator for the small sample of results is that no electricity utility is perfect. For some utilities, 1 in 22 bills are incorrect!

Why not have Utility Advocates examine your bills to determine if your company has overpaid? There’s no out of pocket cost, nothing to lose, and the possibility of real results; potential refunds and savings!
